Diana Perkins Ecoprinting Demonstration
1st February 2022Diana Perkins Studio 1Next month on the Currarong Art trail, local fibre artist Diana Perkins will demonstrate Ecoprinting on silk fabric. Ecoprinting involves placing plant material such as leaves or flowers directly onto specially prepared fabric or paper and rolling the bundle up and then steaming or boiling it. The natural pigments and tannins in the plants are released with heating and form a print on the fabric. Diana uses locally foraged eucalypt leaves and the flowers of local plants in her ecoprints. She prints onto linen silk and paper and this month she is printing onto silk scarves. Come along and see the ecoprint transformation for yourself. The demonstration will be At 11.30 at studio 1 on the 5th February.
